Long lines, rising tempers seen at gas stations

NEW YORK (AP) ? Motorists fumed in long lines at gas stations around the metropolitan area and yelled at one another Friday morning as fuel shortages hindered the region's efforts to recover four days after Superstorm Sandy. The U.S. death toll climbed past 90 in 10 states, and included two boys who were torn from their mother's grasp by swirling floodwaters in Staten Island during the storm. [...] at least 60 people were lined up to fill red gas cans for their generators. [...] power outages left many stations unable to pump gas. On Thursday, police recovered the bodies of two brothers, ages 2 and 4, who were swept away after the SUV driven by their mother, Glenda Moore, stalled in Sandy's rushing floodwaters Monday evening. "Terrible, absolutely terrible," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said as he announced the bodies of Brandon and Connor had been found on the third day of a search that included police divers and dogs. Molinaro complained the American Red Cross "is nowhere to be found" ? and some residents questioned what they called the lack of a response by government disaster relief agencies. [...] Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Federal Emergency Management Agency Deputy Administrator Richard Serino planned to tour the island. Consolidated Edison, the power company serving New York, said electricity should be restored by Saturday to customers in Manhattan and to homes and offices served by underground power lines in Brooklyn. Community groups have been going door-to-door on the upper floors of darkened Manhattan apartment buildings, and city workers and volunteer in hard-hit Newark, N.J., delivered meals to senior citizens and others stuck in their buildings.

Brad Pitt's Mom Buys $130 Bible As Gift For Brad And Angelina's Wedding

Angelina-Brad-Pitt-Mom-Wedding.jpg
In Touch can exclusively reveal that Brad Pitt's mom, Jane Pitt, has purchased a Bible as a wedding gift to her son and future daughter-in-law, a contentious decision as Angelina has never declared a faith, and has even taught Buddhism to her son Maddox.

?It was a special wedding gift,? Kris Burnett, the salesperson who sold Jane the Bible, tells In Touch. ?We prayed with Brad?s mom and sister over the Bible, asking the Lord to lead the way in Brad and Angelina?s life.?

The Bible, purchased at Mardel Christian & Education, cost about $130 and had the name "Angelina" embossed on the cover.

And according to therapist Dr. Paul Hokemeyer (who does not treat the couple), Jane?s Bible gift sends a strong message. ?The purpose of a gift is to honor the recipient, not to push an agenda,? he tells In Touch. ?By giving Angelina a Bible, Jane is invalidating Angelina through passive-aggressive behavior. It?s subtle, destructive and will corrode Jane?s relationship with her future daughter-in-law.?
