Expectant moms take baby steps with parental consultant

Going shopping with new parents - usually to create a gift registry - is just one of the services Aranda provides as owner of Premier Baby Planning in Bellaire. The year was 2009, and Aranda had just returned from living overseas for four years because of her husband's career in the energy industry. Newly relocated to Houston, with no family nearby, Aranda ended up spending hours researching baby products, health care providers and more for her impending delivery. With a business degree in finance and a master's in business administration from the University of Illinois, she knew she wanted to one day own her own business. Not knowing anything about baby things or doctors or insurance companies in this country - let alone this continent - I didn't know where to turn at first. Aranda said the biggest hurdle she's had to overcome is potential clients' fear of admitting they don't know how to plan for a baby. Over the past two years, Aranda said she's learned what works for promoting Premier Baby Planning - a parenting blog that attracts 2,500 readers a month - and what doesn't - advertising in maternity guides for new mothers.
