Born after the demise of the Ashton Court Festival in 2007, the two-day event boasts a stellar line-up including Roni Size and Radio 1's Jaguar Skills.
Circus show bands, dance troupes and cabaret academies will also showcase their talents at the 11-stage sell-out festival, which runs on Saturday September 22 and Sunday 23.
The Saturday action will kick off at 1pm with a performance from McCann's Freestyle Dance School, a high energy dance group.
Jaguar Skills will headline the main stage at 9.45pm, but not before it has been dominated by the likes of ska and dub group Babyhead, street theatre and music act Sheelanagig and Beatbox wizard Beardyman.
Sunday will see performances from swing circus showband Carny Villains, rock 'n' roll group Wildflowers and a special guest DJ. Grammy Award-winning New York trio De La Soul will take the lead at 9pm.
But with 10 other stages to choose from, there's no shortage of entertainment. Read the full line-up here. Organisers are calling on festival-goers to dress appropriately for the weather, which looks set to be cool but sunny on Saturday, and showery on Sunday. On Saturday temperatures are unlikely to exceed 15C, and on Sunday light rain starting at around 10am will continue throughout the day, breaking into heavy rain by around 7pm. Organised by a group of local volunteers who were determined to ensure the survival of a not-for-profit music festival in the city, Brisfest has enjoyed a long run of success. Starting out as a festival able to cater to 8,000 visitors a day, Brisfest welcomed 25,000 visitors in 2011. Having outgrown its former site in Bristol's Harbourside, where it has been for the past four years, Brisfest will this year take place in the rolling Ashton Court Estate, home to the beloved annual Balloon Fiesta. Brisfest, a registered charity, calls on the help of 400 volunteers to host the festival, and invests all profits back into the festival each year. Brisfest also offers industry work experience, mentoring, skills swap programmes and fund professional training to help its volunteers into employment. To find out how to get to Brisfest, click here.
