Ironman route blocks roads in The Woodlands

A 112-mile loop through farmlands near The Woodlands has been blocked off for the bike leg of Saturday?s Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas race. Montgomery County Police Reporter indicated traffic was backed up for more than an hour in some places early Saturday morning, including along FM 1488. Officers were writing citations for impatient drivers passing traffic by driving on the shoulders, the story said. The bike route can be found on the Ironman Texas website. The earliest segments of the race, stretches of Grogans Mill Road, Woodlands Parkway and FM 2978 have already been reopened. Later segments will remain closed through the afternoon, until about 5:30.
