The pros and cons of living downtown

The founders of Treebeards were ahead of their time when they opened their first restaurant in the northern end of downtown in 1978, and they were equally farsighted when they helped buy the Foley Building in 1996 and created commercial office space on the ground floor and residential spaces up above. During the years, they've witnessed the expansion of the theater district and the construction of the light rail, Minute Maid Park, the ballet academy, the brand-new soccer stadium and two specialty groceries. When Hotel Icon first opened, Mize says, "it was a funky hotel with a good restaurant - kind of like New York." [...] they're thinking of remodeling their apartment and adding an elevator.
